Hi,

We have a prospect 32 y.o. getting A and B in July 2023.
She could benefit being on Original Medicare + Medsup. But in Virginia the only plan available for this group is Plan A. I quoted it and it is in $500 range.. Zip 23601.
I quoted and it looks like SF as way lower price. Anyone has a contact with State Farm agent selling Medsup? I know we are not getting paid but not sure if MA is a good fit for dual eligible.
Looking for suggestions, please help.
Thank y9ou

Personally, I'd rather have a MA than a Plan A.

One of the cheapest in your hood for a plan A would be Crum & Forester. Around $429.
Probably a couple of others that might be cheaper.

But just curious. What's the drawback on an MA?

All of my under 65 Medicare clients have MA.

Lol do you sell medicare ? It seems not so hand off the a full time medicare agent . It’s illegal to put anyone with medicaid on a med sup . A full duals medical exp’s are covered at 100% . He’ll have zero out of pocket. I just looked at that zip code . United healthcare has a good one . Your client will get a $230 a month food card . Its the dual ppo choice H1889-006-000

Not doing many duals so medical part is mostly important than food.
Does Medicaid picks you up copays left over by Medicare in Virginia?
Trying the best for a customer as she needs good medical maybe out of state

If the person has Medicaid, they almost 100% won't pay for out of state. I know Medicare Advantage plans have an appeal process for out of state care for the rare occasion where there is no in state specialist for the disorder. There are PPO Dual eligible plans, but it's the issue with Medicaid paying their share if the provider isn't in Virginia.
I am in Virginia, and a very important thing to is to check for providers who accept Medicaid and are in the network for the Medicare Advantage plan.
Please check with the sales reps for the insurance companies you represent for help with the situation.

Thanks
What would be ma carrier to consider for dual eligible in that zip?
Anthem, Optima, United Healthcare, Molina, Aetna. Depending on the level of dual, QMB vs QMB+ or Full Dual Eligible Medicaid level will depend on the plans available. Aetna offers the same plan for QMB as for total full dual. You may need to seek training in dual elgible levels, etc.
I mentioned before, to call local insurance carrier sales reps==if you are appointed with carriers they should be contacting you from time to time.
Back to the MedSupp for out of state consideration, Medicaid will only pay for emergency care outside of the recipient's home state.
