Wanting to Become Ind. Agent in TX, DUI?

"Controlled" business will be paid to you like any other - but will not count towards any contract validations (typical with career agencies) or any sales contests. Generally, you might not get an advanced commission, but paid "as earned".

License renewal is far easier than letting it lapse - ESPECIALLY in Texas. If you're late, not only do you pay your fee, but you pay $50 per credit hour that you need to renew. If you have to do 30 hours to renew, then your total fee would be $1,500 on top of completing the CE.

Right, but I'm concerned about actually writing 'controlled' business. It seems that there is the % rule....So does that mean I can't even write a policy for myself until I have several other policies written on other people? Or is this more of a "lets review your amounts at the end of the year" type of thing?
