You can be paid direct from insurance companies.
Or you can assign commissions, where the insurance company pays the General Agent and the General Agent pays the producer.
ALWAYS get paid directly from the carrier.

Give them what they want and spend less time trying to convince them what they need. I sleep well at night knowing Ive given everyone all the facts about original medicare each and every time. But if some cheap person living in a mansion wants silver sneakers because his friend has it, wants United Healthcare because their doctor "takes it", has health problems, but wont trust you and genrally knows everything, then just give them thier MAPD it and dont try leading the blind.
The bottom line here is that when you assign commissions, the business you write is never really yours. They own the business, not you. If you ever try to walk away from the organization you've assigned commission too, you walk away with nothing to show for any of your work. You'll have to start all over trying to build a book of business.
