That is 100% correct. I have helped some people in the past that were only concerned with PR. PR does not make you money and does not mean that your website is converting (which is the #1 goal).

I tell people... just forget about PR. If we do solid link building and have relevant content on the site, search rankings will improve and so will conversions and profit.

As mentioned above, PR itself is not important, but the things that contribute to a good PR are very important.
