Are Allstate agents Captive? I don't think they can sell any products other than their own. Please correct me if I'm wrong. In my mind that tends to limit the work that you can do for your clients. That's just my opinion though.

Allstate agents are captive and I don't think the Financial specialists receive any benifits. I know the agents don't get any.

With the sale of LBL, what products does the EFS have left to sell?

Yes, Captive. Its the built in P @ C book and the desperate agents need to produce that could work. I was sucking wind at the end. The dynamics were all
wrong. So I moved on. Now I am independent , without production requirements and its a pleasure to write Life. On the other hand,
If an FS is looking to be a big writer, they must have a niche. Example....A church member, where the congregation all use each others products and services. If the agent is the member, he does not need a FS.
So with Allstate, hopefully the suspects are young and healthy. If not the underwriting is tough....The UL was good when I was there, but the 6 and 63 lic was a waste of my time and money. This company is good for Auto Ins and thats it. No homeowners policies are written by Allstate in any coastal areas.
The farm it out. Here in NJ, Allstate management likes to sell the books of biz to Ex - Prudential agents. These guys are pros at selling life for a captive. The dont use the FS. The managers also like buying the books of biz for a spouse or family member. They use the banks financing, and change FS like we do gas stations.
Pass on this crap.

You mentioned the "Staff" of the Allstate Agent setting appointments for you. These staff positions have a high turn over rate and are often time temps until hired full time. I would visit each Allstate Agent's office you would be working with and meet the staff and find out if they know how to successfully cross sell. Their bread and butter is P & C. I would hesitate going captive, but it their books are good then it may be worth a shot. Good luck!
