Panda Update...

Seems a bit disingenuous that you get slapped for paid links from anyone other than . . . Google.

Adwords has no affect on serp ranks. Google is not against advertising they are against paid links that pass PR. There is a Matt Cutts video about this somewhere. You can use paid links as long as they carry a nofollow attribute.

Regardless, the end result is the same. Drive traffic to your site.

Paid ads don't affect organic rankings.... or so they say

Paid ads appear at top of pg 1 . . . above organic search results.

No way paid ads impact site traffic.

Yeah, right . . .

How does it manipulate search engines? Paid ads don't affect organic rankings.... or so they say

Let's presume for the sake of discussion it doesn't manipulate the organic rankings (which might be true). The ads appearing above the organic traffic is just taking a giant dump on the organic traffic.

LOL great lil discussion, thing is EVERYONE buys links, G just $itches when the page your link is on passes Page Rank.

the bottom line is that adwords puts revenue in Google's pockets, and paid links puts revenue in someone else's pockets...that's why adwords is ok, and paid links are not.
