Quick question on that funeral directors being able to Pay themselves out. Is it restricted to whole life or is it any non contestable policy? I was under the assumption it had to be a pre need.

No. PreNeed policies have always paid claims within 24 hours with no death certificate needed.
But several pre-need companies do immediate cash advances to funeral homes on any non contestable policy from any company. Usually charge the funeral home 3% for it.
So realistically your death claim could still be paid to a funeral home yet today. And definitely by tomorrow. And you aren’t even dead yet. But you need to agree to die before noon for it to be that fast.
