Door Knocking...

I have a friend who is a EJ guy. He hires and trains new advisors. He told me years ago that the door knocking works and if an advisor wasn't making $85000 his second year, they would ask him to leave.

I recently had the new local rep knock on my door one evening. It was just an introductory "How do you do?" with a request for approval to keep in touch. Very low key and not offensive in any way.

It works. It is a way to meet new people and it is not offensive.

door knocking is just step one of learning to be a salesmen. then phone. then leads etc.

if someone came to my door in a tie, i would think they were somekind of religious organization. businessmen in the south wear polos, slacks, and dress shoes in the summer.

you will have a market with ej. (small accounts from middle class when they retire and wonder what to do with their 401k) you will be in competition with peoples local bank and the company that holds the 401k. high commissions don't come from easy sales though. nature of this biz.
