Got a paper route at age 9.The 1st thing I bought was baseball equipment, but they still have those today, so I'll post these.

Those things are heavy and will rip the sole off your shoe . . . I got in a lot of trouble when that happened . . .

I played stickball in a street in the Bronx just like this one in the 1950s. Equpment consisted of a broom handle, a Spalding pink rubber ball, and a piece of chalk to mark the bases. Usually, one kid had a ratty baseball glove that got passed around as needed.
We'd go to my grandfather's home and listen to 78 RPM records on his hand cranked record player. Like this one.
Or watch the ball game on a TV that looked like this. Large cabinet, small screen.
In college in the 1960s I had to use a slide rule.
At work in the early 70s I used a Friden calculator to figure the premiums on insurance policies I was underwriting.

Some of my more well-to-do friends had one of these in their family rooms.
Back then, "well-to-do" folks had both a living room and a family room.
We only had a living room, so we only had small Philco-Ford B&W until the 80's, then we got a color tv.
Still only had a living room though.
